Chalk and cheese
Meaning
Chalk and cheese means two people completely different from each other.
粉筆與起司，意思就是兩個完全不同的人，這個用法的起源非常古老，說法也很多
Example
They’re like chalk and cheese, I can’t believe they are couple.
Down and out
Meaning
When someone is down and out, they have no hope. We can use this in real life and sporting events.
又 Down 又 Out ，可想而知一定式很失落，落魄的意思
Example
I feel completely down and out, I don’t know what to do.
Extention
Down but not out is a positive expression compare with down and out
P.S. Divorce : 離婚
Hustle and Bustle
Meaning
Hustle and bustle refer to the busy movement, activity and life of city.
兩個字做名詞時，都有雜亂與喧囂的意思，hustle and bustle就用來形容「環境喧囂、忙亂、使人心煩」
Example
I love living in New York. I’m addicted to the hustle and bustle of the city
P.S. addicted to : 沉迷於
Meet and greet
Meaning
A meet and greet is specific session used for the introduction
意指開場相見歡
Example
On Saturday there’s an official meet and greet with the Barcelona football team.
Name and Shame
Meaning
If you name and shame someone, means that you publicly say that they have done something wrong.
name and shame是動詞，意指「曝光」，通常是指政府或媒體公開曝光某些不好的企業及行為
Example
The Sunday Times named and shamed Fred Williams for committing tax fraud
P.S. fraud : 作弊
Out and about
Meaning
Out and about is a simple expression we use to say we are out and doing things.
在戶外走走的意思
Example
I spent my Sunday afternoon out and about in London. I went to the market, visiting a museum. It’s a beautiful day.
Part and parcel
Meaning
Part and parcel refers to something that you can’t avoid in a particular experience or job role
If you say that something is part and parcel of something else, you are emphasizing that it is involved or included in it.
這個有點難從字面上體會，不過簡單的說就是不可或缺的一部分的意思
Example
Feeling exhausted is part and parcel of being a mother to your two kids.
Peace and quiet
Meaning
That means peace and quiet
就是很安靜的意思
Example
I love the hustle and bustle in London, but sometime I just want a bit of peace and quiet
Pick and choose
Meaning
To pick and choose means to carefully select something from a number of possibilities.
仔細地選東西
Example
Mary is the most beautiful girl in the school. She can pick and choose a boyfriend anytime.
Rant and rave
Meaning
To rant and rave means to be very annoyed about something and complain about it!
歇斯底里的碎碎念，Rant 是胡言亂語的意思，Rave 則是抱怨、怒吼的意思
Example
John was so annoyed when his football team lost. He’s been rant and rave about all day!
Save and sound
Meaning
Save and sound just mean to be safe! We often use this expression the end of journey. But you can use it anytime you want.
Hen安全的意思，通常是用來表達平安結束了一件事
Example
It’s been a long day, but my baby is save and sound in the bed.
Spick and span
Meaning
If something is spick and span it is extremely clean and tidy
Spick 是整潔乾淨的意思，span 是很寬廣的意思，這也是比較難體會的情境之一，Hen 乾淨就對了
Example
I’ve finished my cleaning and my house is spick and span now.
Sick and tired
Meaning
If you are sick and tired of something is means you are fed up.
真是受夠了
P.S. fed up : 受夠了
Example
I’m sick and tired of you eating all the time!
Thick and thin
Meaning
Thick and thin explain that we will stand by someone through good and bad times.
做自己，我挺你
Example
My best friend will always been there for me, through thick and thin.
Touch and go
Meaning
When something is very uncertain. It’s touch and go.
形容一件事很不確定，我猜可能情境式碰一下就跑，像恐怖箱一樣吧
Example
My brother had a serious operation in hospital. It’s touch and go for a while, but he’s fully recovered now.
Ups and downs
Meaning
Ups and downs simply refers to the good and bad times in life.
也可以說是跟 Thick and thin 很類似，但某些情境 Thick and thin 比較好
Example
There’s not such a great job. Any you choose will have ups and downs.
Wine and dine
Meaning
To wine and dine someone mean to take them out for dinner, but for some business or romantic motive.
有目的的約飯局
Example
I will wine and dine her tomorrow, so excited.
